Episode 74: Why Empowering Your People is a Win/Win Strategy

Having explored the three stages of Strategic Planning, Sam wraps up the series by discussing how business leaders can achieve greater results and save time and money, by empowering their people to be involved in the Strategy development.

With all the time and effort expended by leaders in developing strategies for their business, it can be frustrating when people are not engaged or go back to their old ways. Sam examines how this can be overcome by involving teams in the strategic process and considers the positive outcomes to be gained by starting with engagement workshops.

Taking people out of the business to work on strategy can be seen as counter-intuitive. With a challenge to rethink productivity Sam delves into the integration of strategy and planning, with performance metrics such as KPIs and performance reviews. She explains how establishing less formal Rules of Play can engage teams, by connecting their position descriptions to the Strategy, leading to a greater understanding across the business and entrenching common values in the culture.
