In Episode 70, Sam delves further into the need for clearly defined values to drive both individual and business success. As one of the biggest learnings on her own path, Sam looks at why values are more than just a marketing ploy to hang on the wall.

Values and mission statements have long been an important part of business strategy in the corporate world. Typically these values are the product of a leadership seminar or conference, disseminated throughout organisations with minimal thought into the connection to people’s lives.

As businesses inevitably evolve into more people focused environments, the alignment of business and individual values is critical. Sam explores ways that companies might achieve consistency and create values that resonate with staff on a more personal level.

Sam shares her own values and provides practical examples of how she incorporates these values into her daily work. Sam explains how these clearly defined principles have made life and work easier, and how following this process can simplify decision making for all business owners, or anyone looking to move forward in their career.

“Values aren’t right or wrong, they are guiding principles and not having them is like driving down a road with no road rules”
